20TH ANNUAL WOODWARD
DREAM CRUISE
All week long the pilgrims came from across the nation to converge upon the Motor City once more. It was the yearly gathering of owners with their prized possession - cars and trucks that celebrated the invention of the motor car. What was once a dream in the mind of Henry Ford is now a staple of the transportation industry. So it is that people come from near and far to pay homage to what have become classics on the roads. I took my position along the road and managed to grab some photos while this was in my head:
'Twas the
day before Cruise
When out on the roads
The roar of the engines
Was now being heard.
When out on the roads
The roar of the engines
Was now being heard.
The drivers so
proud,
With smiles and their waves
Displaying their beauties
and hoping for raves.
With smiles and their waves
Displaying their beauties
and hoping for raves.
The people were
enthused
And greeted us warmly
As we flashed a thumbs up
and shouted approvingly.
As we flashed a thumbs up
and shouted approvingly.
We eagerly
watched
As quickly they came,
As quickly they came,
And recognized the cars
While we called out their name:
While we called out their name:
On Camaro, on Challenger,
On Mustang and Firebird,
Now 'Cuda, Corvette
On T-Bird, and Charger!
Coming from the hill
They flew down M-1
Both ancient and old
They glistened in the sun.
On Mustang and Firebird,
Now 'Cuda, Corvette
On T-Bird, and Charger!
Coming from the hill
They flew down M-1
Both ancient and old
They glistened in the sun.
When the sun was now setting
And dwindling was the light
We shouted to the drivers
"Happy Cruising to All,
And to All a great night!"
And dwindling was the light
We shouted to the drivers
"Happy Cruising to All,
And to All a great night!"

Here's a gem and I love the color! |

I think this is a 1959 Edsel |
Who could forget the Corvair! |
Remember when Bumble Bee Yellow was THE color? |
There's that bumble bee again! |
